»teach me how to be a commune« singt in ihrer »commune-anthem« die Klasse von Professor
Christian Jankowski, der seine Studenten Ende letzten Jahres kurzerhand nach San Francisco
mitnahm, wo er am »California College of the Arts« als Gastdozent geladen war.
Drei Monate in San Francisco in einem Haus am Strand; 16 deutsche und 9 amerikanische
Bewohner teilen sich vier Zimmer, eine Küche, zwei Toiletten, eine Terrasse und einen Musikraum:
»communal living«, Kunst in der Gruppe, endlose Diskussionen, spontane Aktionen...
Inklusive seiner amerikanischen Fraktion zieht das »Institute for Social Research« (ISR) zur Erforschung
der Lebenskünste, nun in den Württembergischen Kunstverein. Die Ausstellung knüpft, wie die im Juni
mit der Kuratorin Erin Elder realisierte Show im Richmond Art Center (USA) an das Wesen des »ISR« an
und gibt einem kreativen, unkontrollierbaren Prozess Raum, der durch die 23 aus sieben Nationen
stammenden Individuen bestimmt wird.
Das institut für Buchgestaltung und Medienentwicklung der Stuttgarter Kunstakademie gibt zur
Ausstellung einen Katalog heraus.
